nmbrd is an independent label out of Delhi NCR. Small runs, stitched details, and a number on every piece.
EDITION 001 — SEVEN PIECES
WRITTEN THE WEEK BEFORE THE DROP
We started nmbrd because we kept buying the same thing. A logo, printed on, cracked by the tenth wash and on everybody by the end of the month.
So we made the opposite. Seven garments, drawn by hand in a studio in Delhi NCR. Every mark on them stitched or woven in — bronze thread on a collar, a monogram inside the cloth, brushed metal at the hem. Nothing printed. Nothing that peels.
And a hundred of each. Not because we couldn't make more, but because a hundred is the point. When you own 041, you're one of the hundred people who were there, and there will never be a hundred-and-first.
No restocks. No reseller lanes. No 'back by demand'. If you got one, you were there. That's the whole product.
HOW A PIECEHAPPENS.
SKETCH
Pencil first. The crane, the cloud break, the blossom branch and the letterforms are drawn and redrawn until each reads at arm's length and at a metre.
SAMPLE
Patterns are cut oversized on purpose, sampled in the real cloth, worn for a fortnight and adjusted. The size chart is measured off these samples.
STITCH
Tonal thread, matched to each cloth. Density is tested until the embroidery sits flat and survives the wash. Fourteen thousand stitches on a collar; thirty-eight thousand across a tee.
HARDWARE
Brushed tabs, antique brass eyelets, machined buckles. Set and riveted by hand, then every piece is garment washed so it arrives already soft.
NUMBER
Your order confirms, your number is assigned, the label is stitched in, the ledger is updated. One hundred times. Then the pattern is retired.
SMALL ROOM.LONG HOURS.
Two people, four embroidery heads and a cutting table. Everything in edition 001 passes through this room at least three times before it is numbered — once as a sheet, once as a sample, once as the piece that ships to you.
